Independent Paint and Glass opened its doors to Chattanooga in 1922 and the company was incorporated in 1925. John C. Kidwell came to work for Independent Glass in the summer of 1960 and then returned in the spring of 1971 after serving our country in the Navy. In the early 1980s John and his wife Doris bought the company from the remaining shareholders and, since then, have been running and managing the business together.
